As the first station on the transitway, the Hastings station will serve the growing population of eastern Dakota County as well as commuters from as far away as Red Wing, Lake City and Cannon Falls. The proposed station location is the former Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad Depot, located in historic downtown Hastings.

The transit station planning process, which includes public participation and feedback, will begin in 2010. A final report on station concepts and designs is expected to be completed by the summer of 2011.
